Drew Barrymore Reveals An Iconic Movie Prop Is In Her Daughters' Room

One look at Drew Barrymore's IMDB page proves she's a prolific actress. The now 45-year-old made her big-screen debut at the age of five in Altered States and starred in one of the most famous blockbusters of all time just two years later. Barrymore played Gertie, the cute little sister of Elliott, in E.T.: The Extraterrestrial.

While chatting with Domino Kids, Barrymore revealed that she's held onto an iconic prop from E.T. for almost forty years. "I am absolutely terrible at keeping things. I lose everything. But I do have the red cowboy hat I wore in E.T.," she revealed. "It is in the girls' room somewhere and reminds me that I was 6 years old wearing that hat. I'm so glad I still have it."

Barrymore is mom to two daughters—Olive, 8, and Frankie, 6. Her younger daughter is the same age now as Barrymore was when she filmed E.T.. "When we're kids, we don't think something will be important to us one day; we clean out our room and throw stuff away," she continued. "It's nice if parents put something of theirs in their kids' rooms, so it's a transference of memories and energy."

Though the red cowboy hat from E.T. remains in Barrymore's possession, she didn't reveal whether her girls every try it on and act out some of her most memorable scenes from the classic flick.
